Jewellery, ceramic, furniture, fashion, and much more came together under the roof of the Wiener Werkstätte (“Vienna Workshop”). This hub of creativity, founded in 1903, is recognized to this day for its elevation of handcraftsmanship against an industrialised world, its simple, elegant “square style”, and its pursuit of a “Gesamtkunstwerk,” or total work of art, in which all elements of an environment play an integral role.
